The purpose of this document is to trouble shoot the M3 LED Light control slider not working.
The components involved are;
- Metlogix board connected by Ribbon cable to D-Sub board
- LED Controller wired to the D-Sub board.
- The connections are two marked on the controller by C
- LED Controller wired to the LED lights
- The connections are two marked on the controller by L
- M3 Light Control Settings. Specifically the Output number
The Basic operation; when the Light Slider is raised to 100% the Metlogix board will put out 5vdc. This can be measured at the (2) connections marked by C.
The LED controller will increase its output to the Lights as the Slider is raised / increased.
Using a typical 2 LED Light system as an example. If you have one channel working and one channel failed here are things to check.
- Make sure the M3 Light Control Settings have not been changed. You can try a Restore Backup to a date you know the lights worked.
- To review Light Control Settings; M3 / Settings / Light Control
- Swap the connections from channel 1 and 2.
- The Light that works should work in both channels. This will prove the LED controller is functioning in both channels.
- Put the LED Light Slider to 100%.
- Unplug the 4 pin connector.
- Make sure the D-Sub connector is seated properly
- Measure the voltage across the two connections marked C. Should be 5vdc
- If you do not get 5vdc the M3 board has likely failed.
- Will need to go to Metlogix for repair
- If you get 5vdc then likely that LED has failed. Needs to be replaced.
- You can confirm a LED is burned out by swapping the two wires in the L terminal
- If neither LED Control works check the power supply to the LED Control. Should be 24vdc
